Tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that he eats a whopping 4,000 calories a day to ‘offset all the activity’ from his grueling fitness regime.
The 39-year-old is undergoing a public image revamp and has transformed himself from weedy computer nerd to martial arts enthusiast, training with professional MMA fighters and accepting a cage match with rival Elon Musk.
During an exchange on Threads, his newest platform to compete with Musk, the Meta boss responded to a post about people’s go-to McDonald’s orders.
He revealed he has a hefty order that’s more than most people’s entire daily calorie allowance and loaded with sugar and fat.
He wrote: ’20 nuggets, a quarter pounder, large fries, Oreo McFlurry, apple pie, and maybe some side cheeseburgers for later.’

Zuckerberg has been lauded for his intense fitness routines.
In June, he completed the grueling ‘Murph Challenge’ workout, which involved completing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and a one-mile run. Not only did he finish, but he placed in the top 200 out of tens of thousands who participated.
The challenge is named after Michael P Murphy, a US Navy SEAL who was killed on a tour of Afghanistan in 2005 and would regularly take on the brutal workout.
Zuckerberg shared a photo of himself to Facebook wearing a camouflage weighted vest and another of his two daughters – August, 7, and Max, 5 – taking on a mini version of the challenge.
‘I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who defended us,’ he wrote.
He also won both gold and silver medals in his first-ever Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament in May.
Last month, he became a blue belt in the sport.
Though Zuckerberg needs the extra calories to compensate for his workouts, McDonald’s may not be the healthiest option.
A 20-piece order of nuggets, for example, has 830 calories, 49 grams of fat, and 51 grams of carbs. They also have 46 grams of protein, nearly the entire recommended daily value.

To compensate for his fitness routine, Zuckerberg eats about 4,000 calories per day
A large order of fries has 480 calories, 23 grams of fat, 65 grams of carbs, and 400 milligrams of sodium.
Then there’s dessert.
An Oreo McFlurry has 510 calories. It’s also loaded with 60 grams of sugar- much more than American Heart Association’s (AHA) daily recommended limit of 24 grams for women and 36 grams for men.
It also has 16 grams of fat and 80 grams of carbs.
Finally, an apple pie comes in at 230 calories, 14 grams of sugar, 11 grams of fat, and 33 grams of carbs.
Not including any of those burgers on the side Zuckerberg mentioned, this monster meal adds up to 2,570 calories, 84 grams of sugar, 125 grams of fat, 271 grams of carbs, 97 grams of protein, and 3,570 milligrams of sodium.
In an area like San Francisco, where Zuckerberg is based, the meal costs around $29 before tax.
This is more than many Americans’ entire daily calorie allowance.
According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, adult women consume anywhere from 1600 to 2400 calories per day depending on age, and men should get anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day depending on age.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has said that a 2000-calorie diet should be standard for most Americans.
Zuckerberg’s meal is also loaded with ingredients that can cause a host of lasting health problems.
At 3,570 milligrams, it has nearly a quarter more sodium than the AHA’s daily recommended limit of 2,300 milligrams.
Nearly 500,000 American deaths each year are attributed to high blood pressure, which has long been linked to overconsumption of salt.
Too much sodium can lead to heart disease and stroke.
In addition, consuming too much fat, including saturated fat, can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol, a primary risk factor for heart disease. It can also lead to conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, lupus, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), according to the Cleveland Clinic.
And high amounts of sugar have consistently been linked to detrimental health problems. In fact, a review published in the journal BMJ in April linked high consumption of added sugars, the type of sugar in all of these drinks, to 45 negative health outcomes.
These include diabetes, gout, obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, cancer, asthma, tooth decay, depression, and early death.
This isn’t the first time Zuckerberg has revealed odd eating habits.
In 2011, decided to only eat meat if it was from an animal he slaughtered.
‘I think many people forget that a living being has to die for you to eat meat, so my goal revolves around not letting myself forget that and being thankful for what I have,’ he told Fortune at the time.
‘This year I’ve basically become a vegetarian since the only meat I’m eating is from animals I’ve killed myself. So far, this has been a good experience.
‘I’m eating a lot healthier foods and I’ve learned a lot about sustainable farming and raising of animals.’
However, given his Threads post, it’s safe to assume he no longer follows that rule.
